HP Scanjet N9120 Document Flatbed Scanner Series - Error Message "The Hp Smart Document application found a problem and need to be closed"

Issue

The customer has the HP Scanjet N9120 Document Flatbed Scanner and when the customer tries to save the scanned images in PDF files, the following error message is received on the computer screen:
The HP Smart Document application found a problem and need to be closed.
The customer is using the HP Smart Document Scan software version 2.5.

Solution

The customer resolved the issue by completing the following steps:
  1. Uninstall all scanner software.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Stop the anti-virus and firewall services.
  4. Install the HP Smart Document Scan software.
  5. Restart the computer.
After these procedures, the customer could save normally the document and did not receive the error message anymore.
