Changes to HP Client Security Manager

HP Client Security Manager allowed you to locally configure HP Sure Run and HP Sure Recover settings. This app is removed after the upgrade.

The following changes are made:

  • The HP Client Security Manager shortcut in the Windows start menu is replaced with HP Wolf Security.

  • Double-clicking the shortcut opens the new console, where you can access HP Sure Run and HP Sure Recover settings.

  • The HP Client Security Manager Add/Remove programs entry is no longer displayed.

Two system tray icons and two Start menu items are visible

During the process of upgrading the software to the new version, two system tray icons and two Start Menu shortcuts are displayed.

HP upgrades the HP Wolf Security software silently to prevent any workflow disturbances. Generally, the only indication that you see is a notification to restart the computer for the upgrade to take effect. After the upgrade is applied in the background, you might notice two system tray icons and two Start Menu items.

If you click one of the icons, the previous UI opens. If you click the other icon, the new UI opens. This issue happens because the new version installs side-by-side with the earlier version, but the protection features for the new version are dormant. This ensures that the earlier version continues to run and provide protection without any disruptions until you restart the computer.

Note:

If you open the new interface, this does not mean that two security products are running at the same time. The new interface is reflecting data from the earlier version of the product.

To remove the dual icons, restart your computer. This causes the previous version to be removed and the new version of the product to take effect. Removing the earlier version ensures that the previous UI is removed. The tray icon and Start Menu shortcuts display a single icon. The new UI also reflects the current version.
