HP LaserJet M806 and HP LaserJet Flow MFP M830 - Removal and replacement: Fuser

This document provides the procedures to remove and replace the fuser for the HP LaserJet Enterprise M806 and HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M830.

Mean time to repair: 5 minutes

Service level: Basic

Before performing service

Turn the printer power off

  • Disconnect the power cable.

    Warning:

    To avoid damage to the printer, turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, and then remove the power cord before attempting to service the printer.

CAUTION:

This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, place the product on an ESD mat (if available), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface. If an ESD workstation or mat is not available, ground yourself by touching the sheet-metal chassis before touching an ESD-sensitive part.

Required tools

  • No special tools are required to install this kit.

After performing service

Turn the printer power on

  • Connect the power cable.

  • Use the power switch to turn the power on.

Post service test

Print a configuration page to make sure that the printer is functioning correctly.

Remove the fuser

Follow these steps to remove the fuser.

  1. Separate the output accessory, if installed, by lifting up on the upper release latch and sliding it away from the print engine. The output accessory does not need to be removed.

  2. Open the left door.

  3. Push down on the green lever to release the duplexer, and then remove it.

  4. Rotate the two latches on the sides of the fuser toward each other to release the latches.

    CAUTION:

    The fuser might be hot. HP recommends waiting 30 minutes after turning off the product power to let the fuser cool.

  5. Do the following:

    • Grab the blue handle at the bottom of the fuser, and slide the fuser away from the product until it stops.

    • Grasp the handle on the top of the fuser, and then lift the fuser out of the product.

Unpack the replacement assembly

Follow these steps to unpack the replacement assembly.

  1. Dispose of the defective part.

    Note:

    HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective part.

  2. Unpack the replacement part from the packaging.

    CAUTION:

    Some parts are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Always perform service work at an ESD-protected workstation or mat. If an ESD workstation or mat is not available, touch the sheet-metal chassis to provide a static ground before touching an ESD-sensitive assembly. Protect the ESD-sensitive assemblies by placing them in ESD pouches when they are out of the printer.

    Important:

    Make sure that all of the shipping materials (for example shipping tape) are removed from the replacement part prior to installation.

    Note:

    If the replacement part is a roller or pad, avoid touching the spongy part of it. Skin oils on the roller or pad can cause paper pickup and/or print-quality problems. HP recommends using disposable gloves when handling rollers or pads or washing your hands before touching rollers or pads.

  3. To install an assembly, reverse the removal steps.

    Note:

    When applicable, special installation instructions are provided for an assembly at the end of the removal procedure. Always completely read the removal instructions and follow all special installation instructions.

Install the replacement fuser

Follow these steps to install the replacement fuser.

  1. Align the rails on the side of the replacement fuser with the slots on the product, and then slide the fuser into the product. Make sure it is fully seated.

  2. Rotate the two blue latches away from each other to lock the fuser in place. If the latches do not rotate easily, check again to make sure the fuser is fully seated in the product.

    Note:

    Make sure that the latches snap closed.

  3. Slide the duplexer back into place.

  5. Slide the output accessory, if installed, back into the closed position, making sure that no cables are caught between the output accessory and the print engine.
