HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 - Internal Display Is Distorted When Connected to an External HDMI Monitor at Startup

The computer’s internal screen displays random lines and exhibits distortion. The issue may occur if you connect an HDMI monitor to the computer while it is starting up or resuming from a low power state.

The information in this document applies to the following:
  • HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2
Operating Systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 10 RS3 (Version 1709)
Power off and restart the computer to recover.
To avoid this issue, do not plug the HDMI cable into the notebook while starting up. Plug in the HDMI cables before powering on the computer or wait until Windows has loaded properly.
