To resolve this issue, follow the steps to download and install the Chrome OS update:
NOTE: The Chromebook automatically downloads software updates when it is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi. After an update is downloaded, it will need to be installed.
To check if an update is ready:
- Click the status area where your account picture is located.
- Locate the
Update icon. (This icon appears only when an update is ready.)
- Click
Update >Restart to update.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
To check for and install updates before the next automatic update:
- Click the status area where your account picture is located.
- Click
Settings > About Chrome OS.
- In the About window, click
Check for and apply updates. The Chromebook will install any available updates.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
- After the updates are installed, click
Restart to update.
- To confirm the Chromebook is up to date, click
Settings > About Chrome OS.
NOTE: The solution is integrated in Chrome version 55.
