Before you begin
  • Use the table below to identify the correct kit part number for your product, and then go to www.hp.com/buy/parts to order the kit.

Required tools
  • No special tools are required to install this kit.
Step 1 - Remove the Document Feeder Separation Pad Spring
  1. Do the following:
    1. Turn off the product.
    2. Disconnect the power cable.
        warning:
      To avoid damage to the product, turn the product off, wait five seconds, and then remove the power cord before attempting to service the product.
  2. Open the jam-access cover.
      caution:
    Skin oils deposited on the roller might cause print-quality problems. Wash your hands before handling the assembly.
  3. Locate the separation pad at the end of the document feeder input tray, press down on the pad, and then slide the pad toward the input tray to remove it from the assembly.
  4. Remove the separation pad spring.
Step 2 - Unpack the Replacement Document Feeder Separation Pad Spring
Unpack the replacement separation pad spring kit from the packaging.
  caution:
Skin oils on the roller or pad can cause paper pickup problems. Wash your hands before handling the replacement roller or pad.
If your part requires return or recycling, go to Product return and recycling
  note:
HP recommends responsible disposal of the separation pad.
Step 3 - Install the Replacement Document Feeder Separation Pad Spring
  1. Install the separation pad spring.
  2. Position the separation pad at the end of the document feeder input tray, press down on the pad, and then slide the pad toward the jam access cover to install it.
      caution:
    Skin oils deposited on the roller might cause print-quality problems. Wash your hands before handling the assembly.
  3. Close the jam-access cover.
  4. Do the following:
    1. Connect the power cable.
    2. Turn on the product.
