HP LaserJet Printer Series - Paper discoloration with jams inside the fuser assembly

Introduction
Customers may contact HP after noticing a discoloration on paper that has jammed inside the fuser assembly. The energy that causes the discoloration is not sufficient to inflame the paper during a paper jam.
Background
HP LaserJet printer products apply a constant temperature to the fuser heater. This temperature is monitored whenever the power is applied to the heater. This is before, during and after printing process. The LaserJet printer product has a thermal fuse in order to prevent temperatures rising above the paper/media ignition point. Depending on the composition of media/paper that is used by the customer, it may be more susceptible to discoloration at elevated temperature.
HP products are developed and manufactured in compliance worldwide applicable product Safety International standards (IEC60950-1/EN60950-1).
The requirements in the standard encompass safety measures against electrical shock, thermal issues and more. The manufacturer risk assessment for an IT product includes normal operating mode but also foreseeable misuses/defects. Paper jam might lead to brown/brittle paper (depending on the used paper and its quality) but the energy is not sufficient to inflame the paper during a paper jam. Therefore, a paper jam does not lead to a potential risk for the surrounding field. However, it is recommended to remove the jam and bring the printer again in normal operating mode.
  note:
Only paper with specifications defined by HP (see product datasheet) shall be used. Only original HP Toner (as supported by HP) shall be used.
