HP EliteBook 2540p Notebook PC - LCD Speaker Bar Making High-Pitched Noise

Issue
When connecting the HP LCD speaker bar NQ576AA or SP03A01 through the docking station to a 2540p notebook, it generates a kind of high-pitched noise even when the sound on the notebook is muted.
Solution
This is caused by the USB power, which is supplied through the docking station.
There are several ways to address this issue:
  • Connect the speaker bar audio cable (3.5 mm) to the docking station and connect the USB power cable to the TFT monitor USB hub (if available) and do not connect the monitor's USB hub to the docking station.
  • Connect the USB power cable of the speaker bar directly to a notebook USB port.
  • Connect the speaker bar USB cable to an external USB power source (USB power adapter like iPAQ adapter, smart travel adapter AU155AA, etc.).
