HP LaserJet M2727 Multifunction Printer Series - Installation Procedure and Scan to Email Setup


The following information details how to set up the Scan to E-mail features for the HP LaserJet M2727MFP. Prior to configuring Scan to E-mail, a Microsoft Outlook account must be setup as default so that the HP Solution Software can use it as a bridge to use for Send to e-Mail. In cases where Outlook is not setup, use the option Scan to Document and attach the document manually to the e-mail.


Download the Full solution Software for the desired Operating System from hp.com. The current Solution Software (5.0 /25 Mar 2008) supports the following operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
  • Microsoft Windows Vista
  • Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows XP x64
  • Microsoft Windows XP
Installation Procedure:
  1. Click here to access the download drivers and software link on the web. Search using your product or model name. Click the link for the desired operating system to see available software.
  2. Once the Solution Software is downloaded in to the PC please run and unzip it, see the following Figures.
  3. The Installation Main Window will pop up. Follow the Recommended installation, see the following Figures.
  4. Some pop up messages will appear during installation, please fill the them with the requested info. (such as IP address or MAC address, etc...), see the Figure below.
  5. Once the Recommended installation finishes a Congratulation window will pop up. Exit that window, see the Figure below.
  6. Click Start, All Programs, HP, HP LaserJet M2727, Scan.
    The following window appears:
  7. Select the option: Scan a document and attach it to an e-mail and clickSCAN. This will make the first test and will also recognize the machine settings.
  8. An email window will appear with the attachment, ready for sending, see the Figure below.
  9. Again, clickStartAll Programs, HP, HP LaserJet M2727, Scan and hit the Setup button in order to change the destinations that will show up in the Printers control panel, see the Figure below.
  10. Check mark the space above, see the Figure below.
  11. Change the destinations, see the Figure below.
  12. Once this process is done, click the UPDATE button and close the window.
  13. It is time to perform the scanning process from the front panel of the MFP. Press the SCAN TO button at the MFP front panel and select the desired option.
    The MFP will send the commands to the Scanning software and the PC will display the following windows.
  • After creating a scan to destination to be automatically sent, what has to be running on the client to get this to work?
    The PC that is to perform scan to email must have Microsoft Outlook as the default email program as well as have the Full Solution Software (HP application) installed.
  • For automatically sent emails, do they show up in the Sent Items folder?
    Automatic emails will go through the normal process of an e-mail. The HP scanning application will only "grab" the scanned document and attached it automatically in to your Outlook New message (just like a manual process would do). All emails sent will appear in the Sent Items folder.
