HP Photosmart R725, R725v, R725xi, R727, R727v, and R727xi Digital Cameras - Set Up the Camera

Introduction
Use the following sections to set up the camera for the first time.
Installing the battery
The camera uses a rechargeable HP Photosmart R07 Lithium Ion battery (L1812A/L1812B).
  1. Open the Battery/Memory card door on the bottom of the camera by sliding the door latch as indicated on the Battery/Memory card door.

  2. Insert the battery in the larger slot, pushing the battery in until the latch catches.
      note:
    Fully charge the battery before using it for the first time.
  3. Close the Battery/Memory card door.
      note:
    Always turn the camera off before removing the battery. Fully charge the battery before using it the first time.
Charging the battery
  note:
The battery can be charged in the camera using the AC power adapter, in the extra battery bay of an optional HP Photosmart Premium camera dock, or using an optional HP Photosmart quick recharger.
  1. Connect the AC power adapter to the camera and into a working electrical outlet. When the battery is charging, the Power/Memory light on the back of the camera blinks.

  2. Charge the battery for 4 to 7 hours. When the battery is fully charged, the Power/Memory light turns off.
      note:
    Each time the camera is reconnected to the power, the charging cycle begins again.
Turning on the camera
Press the button to turn on the camera.
Choosing the language
The Language menu displays the first time the camera is turned on.
  1. Press the or buttons to select a language.
  2. Press the button to select the highlighted language.
  note:
The language can be changed later using the Language setting in the Setup menu.
Setting the region
The Language and Region settings determine the default date format and the format of the video signal for displaying camera images on a television when connected through an optional HP Photosmart Premium dock or wireless dock base.
  1. Press the button to select a region.
  2. Press the button to select the highlighted region.
Setting the date and time
The first time the camera is turned on, a Date & Time screen displays after the language is selected.
  1. Press the button to adjust the highlighted value.
  2. Press the button to move to the other selections and then repeat Step 1 until the date and time are set correctly.
  3. When the date, time, and format settings are correct, press the button.
  4. Press the button again to confirm the settings.
  note:
To change the date and time settings later, use the Date and Time setting in the Setup menu.
Using the Setup menu
Use the following steps to change the camera settings:
  1. Press the button until displays briefly in the upper right corner of the Image Display. This indicates that the camera is in Live View mode.
  2. Press the button.
  3. Press the button until displays.
  4. Press the button to select a menu option.
  5. Press the button to display the sub-menu for the selected menu.
  6. Press the button to select a setting and then press .
  7. Press to exit the Setup menu.
Installing a memory card (optional)
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Open the Battery/Memory card door on the bottom of the camera.
  3. Insert the memory card in the small slot above the battery. Make sure that the memory card snaps into place.

  4. Close the Battery/Memory card door.
  5. Turn on the camera.
  note:
After installing a memory card in the camera, all new images and video clips are stored on the card. To use the internal memory in the camera and view images stored there, remove the memory card.
Formatting a memory card (optional)
Always format memory cards before using them for the first time to help prevent corrupted cards and images.
  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Press the button until displays briefly in the upper right corner of the Image Display. This indicates that the camera is in Playback mode.
  3. Press the icon.
  4. Press the button to select Format Card and then press .
  5. Press the button to select Yes and then press to format the card.
