HP Notebook PCs - Windows Login Error "The Card Supplied Requires Drivers that are not Present"

Description
A Microsoft Windows error message appears when trying to log in which reads as follows.
The card supplied requires drivers that are not present on this system. Please try another card.
Solution
If unable to log in using Credential Manager, follow these steps:
  1. Log in with the username and password.
  2. Open HP ProtectTools Security Manager.
  3. Click Credential Manager in the left pane. In the right pane, click the Log in button.
  4. Access to Advanced Settings is now available. Click Advanced Settings in the left pane. On the General tab, make sure Use Credential manager to log on to Windows is selected.
  5. Click OK. Restart the system when prompted.
  6. The Smartcard or fingerprint ID can now be used
When Credential manager is operating, look for a "GinaDLL" key in the registry located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. The value of this key will be C:\Program Files\HPQ\IAM\Bin\OCGina.dll.
If Credential Manager is installed and log in is no longer available with a regular username/password, follow these steps:
  1. Log into Credential Manager using a username and password.
  2. Open HP ProtectTools Security Manager.
  3. Click Credential Manager in the left pane. In the right pane, click the Log In button.
  4. Access to Advanced Settings is now available. Click Advanced Settings in the left pane. On the General tab, make sure Use Credential manager to log on to Windows is deselected.
  5. Click OK. Restart the system when prompted.
This will remove the "GinaDLL" key in the registry located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
