Connecting to a Macintosh Computer

Issue:
Connecting the HP Designjet 700/750C Plus printer to a Macintosh computer.
Solution
There are two solutions for connecting an HP Designjet 700/750C Plus printer to a Macintosh computer: a hardware solution (optimum HP solution) and a software solution (third-party).
Optimum Hewlett-Packard solution
An HP Designjet printer requires a PostScript (R) SIMM to become Macintosh-compatible. Additional items necessary for a Macintosh connection include cabling and a driver.
Required accessories
PostScript
C4707A
Adobe (R) PostScript upgrade kit for the HP Designjet 700/750C Plus printers. The PostScript SIMM in this kit is required for a Macintosh connection. The kit includes the PostScript SIMM, PostScript drivers, a software installation guide, and other documentation.
  note:
The PostScript SIMM must be installed in slot 2.
Memory
An additional 16 MB of RAM beyond the HP Designjet 700 and 750C Plus printer’s standard onboard memory is necessary for a supported Macintosh connection.
Memory Expansion Modules
4 MB (discontinued)
C3132A
8 MB
C3133A
16 MB
D2297A or
C3146A
32 MB
D3578A
  note:
Memory SIMMs must be installed in slot 3 or 4.
HP Jetdirect card
It is necessary to provide a port for the Macintosh computer since none is built into the HP Designjet 700 and 750C Plus printer. Depending on the type of cabling and connection that you want to make, the following interface cards provide a port for a Macintosh connection:
J2550B (discont.)
Multi-protocol network card. This card supports EtherTalk, Novell, TCP/IP, and DLC/LLC (1 Port: 10Base-T/RJ45)
J2552B (discont.)
Multi-protocol network card. This card supports LocalTalk, EtherTalk, Novell, TCP/IP, and DLC/LLC (3 Ports: 10Base-T/RJ45, 10Base-2/BNC, LocalTalk DIN 8)
  note:
The HP Designjet 700 and 750C Plus printers come standard with Bitronics ECB/Centronics parallel and RS-232 serial ports.
Software solution (third-party)
MacPlot by Microspot
