The third-party applications listed below, which do not represent a complete listing of available products, do not require the Adobe (R) PostScript (R) option or additional memory. In some cases, the cost of the raster image processor (RIP) may be lower than the cost of maximizing the memory in the HP Designjet printer.
When considering the use of a Third-Party RIP, it is important to get answers to the following questions before making a purchase:
-
What connectivity is supported or recommended (for example, 10base-T, BNC, Parallel, Serial, etc.) Also find out what components of this connectivity are included with the product, and which will users be required to supply.
-
Minimum System requirements: Make sure to meet the manufacturers recommended system requirements. This will usually include: Hard Disk Space, Operating System type and Revision, and RAM.
-
Make sure the RIP is compatible with the application programs and file types being used.
Please contact the vendor(s) for current information on their RIP packages. The applications listed below include either a software-based RIP or hardware based RIP. Many of the applications provide special print modes, color correction, calibration, and functionality, such as nesting and queuing of images.
