HP DeskJet 1110, 1200 Printers - Replacing Ink Cartridges

This document is for HP DeskJet 1110, 1111, 1112, 1210, 1212, 1255, DeskJet Ink Advantage 1115, 1118, 1216, and 1275 printers.

Replace ink cartridges that are low or out of ink with new, genuine HP ink cartridges.

Step 1: Load paper

Before you replace the ink cartridges and begin the alignment process, load paper in the printer.

Raise the input tray.

Remove any paper from the input tray that is different than the type of paper you want to load, and then slide the paper width guide as far as possible to the left.

Load a stack of U.S. letter, A4, or legal size paper into the input tray with the short edge down and the print side facing you. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.

Slide the paper width guide to the right until it rests at the edge of the paper. Do not push the guides in so tightly that they bind against the paper.

Lower the output tray, and then pull out the output tray extender.

Step 2: Replace the ink cartridges

Replace one or both ink cartridges.

Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
Lower the output tray, if it is not already lowered.
Reach inside the printer, grasp the handle, then lower the ink cartridge access door.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
Lightly press down on the ink cartridge to release it.

Pull one ink cartridge toward you out of its slot.
Remove the new ink cartridge from its package. Be careful to only touch the black plastic on the ink cartridge.
Remove the plastic tape.

vigyázat:
Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Do not replace the protective tape on the contacts. Handling these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, then insert the ink cartridge into its correct slot.
- Insert the black ink cartridge () into the right slot.
- Insert the tri-color ink cartridge () into the left slot.
Slide the ink cartridge at a slightly upward angle into the empty slot, then gently push up on the ink cartridge until it snaps into place.

Repeat these steps to install the other ink cartridge, if necessary.
Close the ink cartridge access door.

After loading the paper, the printer automatically prints an alignment page.

Where can I buy ink cartridges?

Purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies from the HP Store or local retailers.

What if my alignment page did not print?

If your printer did not automatically print an alignment page, you can select your operating system to align the ink cartridges from your computer using the HP software.

Windows

Align the ink cartridges in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.

Press the Power button to turn on the printer, and then make sure that the printer is connected to the computer.
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.

The HP Print Assistant software opens.
In the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer.
Click the Device Services tab, and then click Align Ink Cartridges.

The printer prints an alignment page.
Follow any prompts on the computer screen.

OS X

Align the ink cartridges in OS X v10.10 Yosemite, OS X v10.9 Mavericks, or OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion.

Press the Power button to turn on the printer, and then make sure that the printer is connected to the computer.
In the menu bar, click the Apple icon ().
Click System Preferences.
Click Printers and Scanners, Print & Fax or Print & Scan.
Click the name of your printer, and then click Open Print Queue.
Click Printer Setup or Settings, click Utility, and then click Open Printer Utility.
Click Align.

The printer prints an alignment page.
Follow any prompts on the computer screen.
