Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer

When HP Wi-Fi printers are powered on the first time, they enter Wi-Fi setup mode. This mode makes the printer discoverable to the HP Smart app or HP software and easier to set up. For security, Wi-Fi setup mode lasts for a limited time. If time has run out and the printer needs to be set up on a Wi-Fi network, restore Wi-Fi setup mode to make the printer discoverable again.

HP DeskJet 2700, 2700e, 4100, 4100e printers

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time for five seconds until the Power button starts blinking.

Note:
Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
Wait until the blue Wireless button light blinks continuously.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP ENVY 6000, 6000e, 6400e, ENVY Pro 6400 printers

Use the Wireless button on the back of your printer to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for five seconds.

Note:
Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
Wait for the Status light to turn purple.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Laser 100, Color Laser 150 printers

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button or Resume/Cancel button to ready the printer.
Press and hold the Wireless button for 20 seconds until the Attention and Power lights blink.

Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
Wait 60 seconds.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Laser MFP 130, Color Laser MFP 170 printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Menu button .
Use the right arrow to navigate to Network, and then press OK.
Select Wi-Fi Default, and then press OK.

Note:
Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
Wait 60 seconds.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Laser NS, Neverstop Laser printers

Use the Wireless and Cancel buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time for three seconds until the printer restarts.

Note:
Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
After the printer restarts, wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP LaserJet M109, M109e, M112, M112e printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

If the printer is in sleep mode (the Ready light is on but dim), press the Resume/Cancel button to wake up the printer.
Press and hold the Wireless button for more than 20 seconds or until the Attention light blinks.
Release the Wireless button. The printer restarts and the Wireless light blinks.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP LaserJet M139, M139e, M142, M142e printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

If the printer is in sleep mode (the Ready light is on but dim), press the Cancel button to wake up the printer.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button for five seconds.
Wait for the printer to restart and for the Wireless light to blink.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP LaserJet M207-M212, MFP M232-M237 printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.
Press and hold the Information button for five seconds until the control panel buttons light up.

Note:
Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time.
Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless button blinks blue continuously or the Status light pulses purple.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Smart Tank 670, 720, 750, 7000, 7300 printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press any button on the printer control panel to put it in a ready state.
Press and hold the Information button for five seconds until the control panel buttons light up.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button for five seconds until the Wi-Fi light blinks blue.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Smart Tank 790, 7600 printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the back of the printer for five seconds or until the control panel display shows a prompt.
On the prompt, touch OK to restore the network default settings. The status light blinks purple.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Tango printers

Use the Wi-Fi button on the back of the printer to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for five seconds.
Wait for the Status light to pulse blue.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on all other HP printers

Use the buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode on other HP printer models.

All other printers with a touchscreen display

Use the touchscreen to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon or Wireless icon .
Select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.

Note:
Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.
If a confirmation prompt displays, touch Yes.
Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.
Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

All other HP inkjet and ink tank printers without a touchscreen

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.
Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button at the same time until the Power button flashes.
