Learn how to make a copy and adjust the copy settings using the printer control panel.

Note:

The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

Find your printer control-panel type in the options below, and then follow the steps to make a copy.

FutureSmart 3

Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 3 touchscreen control panel.

In addition to the instructions below, you can view the following video of how to make a copy and adjust the copy settings.

  1. Place the document face-down on the scanner glass, or place it face-up in the document feeder and adjust the paper guides to fit the size of the document.

  2. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Copy button.

  3. To adjust the number of copies, touch the Copies field. A touch keypad will display.

  4. Enter the number of copies using the touch keypad, and then touch the OK button.

  5. Touch the More Options button, and then touch the Optimize Text/Picture menu option.

  6. Touch one of the predefined settings, or touch Manually Adjust, and then adjust the slider (in the Optimize For area) to the desired setting.

  7. Touch the OK button to save the changes.

  8. Touch the Copy button Copy button to begin copying.

FutureSmart 4

Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 4 touchscreen control panel.

In addition to the instructions below, you can view the following video of how to make a copy and adjust the copy settings.

  1. Place the document face-down on the scanner glass, or place it face-up in the document feeder and adjust the paper guides to fit the size of the document.

  2. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch Copy.

  3. Select the desired settings from the Sides menu and the Color/Black menu (color printers), and then touch Done to save the settings.

  4. If you are using a Quick Set, touch Load under Quick Sets and Defaults. Touch a Quick Set option to select it, and then touch Load in the lower right corner.

    Note:

    Quick Sets are predefined copy settings for various types of output, such as Text, Photograph, and High Quality.

  5. To adjust the copy settings, such as Reduce/Enlarge, or Content Orientation, touch Options in the lower left corner, and then touch any option in the list to change the settings. Select Done, if prompted.

  6. Optional Preview: Touch the right pane on the screen to preview the document. Use the Expand and Collapse buttons on the left side of the preview pane to expand and collapse the preview.

    On the preview screen, use the buttons on the right side to adjust the preview options and to rearrange, rotate, insert, or remove pages.

    Thumbnail view button

    Two-page view button

    Toggle between the two-page view and the thumbnail view. More options are available in the thumbnail view than in the two-page view.

    Zoom in button

    Zoom out button

    Zoom in or out on the selected page.

    Note:

    Select only one page at a time to use these buttons.

    Rotate button

    Rotate the page 180 degrees.

    Note:

    This button is available only in the thumbnail view.

    Delete button

    Delete the selected pages.

    Note:

    This button is available only in the thumbnail view.

    Move page left button

    Move page right button

    Rearrange the pages within the document. Select one or more pages and move them to the left or right.

    Note:

    This button is available only in the thumbnail view.

    Add a page button

    Add a page to the document. The printer prompts you to scan additional pages.

    Clear changes button

    Clear the changes made in the preview and start over.

  7. To adjust the number of copies, touch the field to the left of the Copy button, and then enter the number of copies using the touch keypad. Touch Done to close the keypad.

  8. Touch Copy to begin copying.
