HP PCs and Printers - Is Windows on my computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

Some software and drivers install only in a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows. Know your Windows version to download compatible software.

Note:

If you are looking for a printer driver, go to 123.hp.com.

Find Windows 32-bit or 64-bit system type (Windows 10)

Determine if your Windows 10 system type is 32-bit or 64-bit.

  1. Search Windows for About your PC and open About your PC from the list of results.

  2. The Version and System type are shown on the About screen.

Find Windows 32-bit or 64-bit system type (Windows 8)

Determine if your Windows 8 system type is 32-bit or 64-bit.

  1. Right-click the the lower left corner of the screen, and then select System.

  2. The system type is shown next to System type.

Find Windows 32-bit or 64-bit system type (Windows 7 and Vista)

Determine if your Windows 7 or Vista system type is 32-bit or 64-bit.

  1. Click Start and right-click Computer.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. The system type is shown next to System type.

Find Windows 32-bit or 64-bit system type (Windows XP)

Determine if your Windows XP system type is 32-bit or 64-bit.

  1. Click Start and right-click My Computer.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. From the General tab, look at the Windows XP version name listed under System. If the version name contains the text "x64 Edition", your computer has a 64-bit version of Windows XP. If "x64 Edition" is not shown, your computer has a 32-bit version of Windows XP.

Find the Windows 32-bit or 64-bit system type when the computer does not start

If your computer does not start, you can find the 32-bit or 64-bit system type on the product packaging, or online in a product specification document.

  1. Search the HP Customer Support site for your computer model number and the word "specification".

    For example, if you owned an HP All-in-One 24-f0135 PC, you would type: 24-f0135 specification.

  2. Click the link to your product specification document and scroll down to the software section. The system type is listed with the operating system; for example: Windows 10 Home (64-bit).

    Note:

    If 32-bit or 64-bit is not listed next to the name of the operating system, the system type is 32-bit.
