For Windows 7 computers in MBR mode, the fast boot setting should be disabled to ensure USB devices work in the Pre-Boot environment.
For Windows 10 and forward with UEFI, this setting is important to enable the EFI protocols in Preboot environments. Without it, the internal keyboard, touchpad, touchscreen, etc. may not work properly in the Pre-Boot environment.
To prevent this issue from occurring, follow the steps to disable
Fast Boot:
Change BIOS settings to disable Fast Boot (F10):
- Power on computer.
-
Press
F10 to enter the
BIOS Setup.
-
Select the
Advanced tab.
-
Select
Boot Options.
-
Uncheck
Fast Boot.
-
Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
