HP LaserJet M607-M612, M631-M636, E60055-E60075, E62555-E62575 - Configure the HP Stapling Mailbox accessory

The HP Stapling Mailbox accessory is an optional accessory. The following information describes how to load staples and configure the options for the stapling mailbox accessory.

note:
The HP Stapling Mailbox accessory is not supported by all printer models.

The stapling mailbox accessory can staple documents in the upper left or upper right corners, and it can stack up to 1,000 sheets of paper in the three output bins. The output bins have three mode-configuration options, as follows:

Stacker mode
Mailbox mode
Function separator mode

To configure the default staple location and the operation mode, click a heading below to expand the section and then follow the steps provided.

Configure the default staple location

Follow these steps to configure the default staple location:

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, navigate to and touch the Settings icon.
Open the following menus:
1. Manage Stapler/Stacker
2. Staple
Select a staple location from the list of options, and then touch Save. The following options are available:
- None: No staples
- Top left or right: If the document has portrait orientation, the staple is in the top left corner of the short edge of the paper. If the document has landscape orientation, the staple is in the top right corner of the long edge of the paper.
- Top left: The staple is in the top left corner of the short edge of the paper.
- Top right: The staple is in the top right corner of the long edge of the paper.

Configure the operation mode

Follow these steps to configure how the printer sorts jobs into the output bins:

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, navigate to and touch the Settings icon.
Open the following menus:
1. Manage Stapler/Stacker
2. Operation Mode
Select a mode from the list of options, and then touch Save. The following options are available:
- Mailbox: The printer places jobs in different bins according to the person who sent them.
- Stacker: The printer stacks jobs in the bins from bottom to top.
- Function Separator: The printer places jobs in different bins according to printer function such as print jobs, copy jobs, or fax jobs.

To configure the HP print driver for the selected operation mode, find your operating system in the list below and then click the heading to expand the section and follow the steps provided:

Windows 8.0, 8.1, and 10

Right-click the bottom-left corner of the screen.
Click Control Panel. Under Hardware and Sound, click View devices and printers.
Right-click the name of the printer, and then select Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Click Update Now. Or, in the drop-down menu next to Automatic Configuration, select Update Now.
note:
Newer HP PCL-6 V4 drivers do not support Update Now. For these drivers, complete one of the following procedures:
- Manually configure the operation mode under Accessory Output Bin, if listed.
- Stop and restart the print spooler using these steps:
  
  Click the Start button (or open a search box).
  
  In the search box, type services.msc, and then press the Enter key.
  
  Right-click Print Spooler in the list of services, and select Stop
  
  Right-click Print Spooler again, and then select Start.
- Shut down and restart the computer.

Windows 7

Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the computer or a network.
Open the Windows Start menu, and then click Devices and Printers.
Right-click the name of the printer, and then select Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Click Update Now. Or, in the drop-down menu next to Automatic Configuration, select Update Now.

macOS

From the Apple menu, click System Preferences.
Click Print & Scan (or Printers & Scanners).
Select the printer, and then click Options & Supplies.
Click Driver.
Manually configure the Accessory Output Mode, if available. Or, if not available, the operation mode is configured at the time of printing.
