HP Scanjet - Scan driver support for OS X Mavericks (10.9) and newer

Introduction
HP Scanjet scanners have an ICA driver to enable scanning with Apple's Image Capture application in OS X El Capitan (10.11), OS X Yosemite (10.10), and OS X Mavericks (10.9). Use this document to find out which Scanjets have drivers available.
ICA driver available for Apple's Image Capture
The following HP Scanjet models are compatible with OS X Mavericks (10.9) and newer and have an ICA driver 2.4.x available for use with Apple's Image Capture:
  note:
The HP ScanJet Professional 1000 and 3000 models do not have a ICA driver available and do not support the Apple Image Capture application. Go www.hp.com/go/support to download the HP scan software for Mac.

To download the HP Scanjet ICA driver, go to www.hp.com/go/support.
If your scanner is not listed above, you might consider an upgrade to a newer HP scanner that will work with the new Macintosh operating system. For more information, go to the HP Shopping website (http://www.shopping.hp.com).
Troubleshooting error messages received during installation
If you try to install older software released prior to El Capitan, you might receive the following error message:
  • '...Driver comes from an unidentified developer'
If you receive this message, follow these steps:
  1. Click OK to ignore and close the message.
  2. Press and hold the Ctrl key and then click the .dmg file.
  3. Click Open in the pop-up, and then click Open again.
If you continue to receive this message, you can also choose to override your security settings by disabling Gatekeeper. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open System Preferences and then under the Personal section, click Security & Privacy.
  2. Click the lock () in the lower left corner to make changes to Security & Privacy settings.
  3. Enter the Password and then click Unlock.
  4. Change setting from Mac App Store and identified developers to Anywhere, and then click Allow From Anywhere.
      note:
    As a best practice, HP recommends that this setting be set to ‘Mac App Store and identified developers.
  5. Click the lock () in the lower left corner to save the changes.
