HP Z620 Workstation - Removing and Replacing Right Side Panel

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the right side panel for the HP Z620 Workstation.
Minimum skill level
The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.
Tools required
Torx-15 screwdriver

The replacement part number will vary depending on the right side panel that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

  note:
For customers in countries/regions with RoHS legislation (e.g. EU, China, etc.) restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical equipment. The use of the "Original" spare part is regulated by RoHS legislation. If the unit contains a part that is labeled with the "Modified" spare number, the "Modified" spare part must be ordered as the replacement part. If the unit contains a part that is labeled with the "Original" spare number, please order the "Original" spare number as the replacement part. In this case, either the "Original" or the "Modified" spare number may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

To view a video demonstrating the procedure for removing the right side panel, click here to view the HP Services Media Library and then click on Remove/Replace videos. On the new window, select Right side panel from the menu on the upper left hand side of the screen.
Right side panel removal
  note:
This video was developed using a pre-production version of the workstation. The chassis and parts shown might not exactly match the current production version, but the part removal and replacement steps are the same.
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to the product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the Torx-15 screw that secures the right bottom trim foot to the bottom of the chassis near the right side panel.
  3. Slide the the right bottom trim foot to the right and remove.
  4. Remove the two Torx-15 screws that secure the right side panel to the bottom of the chassis.
  5. Slide the right side panel back about half an inch and then lift to remove the panel.
Right side panel replacement
  1. Position the right side panel over the chassis so that the aligning pins engage with the keyholes in the chassis rail.
  2. Press down on the right side panel and slide it forward until it locks in place.
  3. Replace the two Torx-15 screws that secure the right side panel to the bottom of the chassis.
  4. Align the hooks on the right bottom trim foot with the slot on the bottom of the chassis and slide the trim foot to the left.
  5. Replace the Torx-15 screw that secures the right bottom trim foot to the bottom of the chassis.
