HP Z420 Workstation - Removing and Replacing the Memory
Introduction

The end user requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The end user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the memory that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return", then the defective part needs to be returned to HP.

Remove the access panel. Click here to view how to remove the access panel.

Remove the memory fan assembly. Click here to view how to remove the memory fan assembly.

Push down and out on the memory socket latches to release the memory module.

Pull the memory module up and out of the socket.
Memory replacement

Ensure that the memory socket latches are pushed down and away from the memory socket.

Match the notch on the memory module with the key in the memory socket.

Push the module down firmly into the socket until the latches snap into place and the module is fully seated.
