Blinking Lights on the HP Deskjet 3810/3820 Printer Series

Introduction

The lights on the front of the product indicate the product status. These lights can be on, off, or blinking (flashing), depending on the status of the product. The Power light (), Resume light (), and Cartridge Status light () can all blink in distinct patterns to indicate the product status or potential error conditions.

Blinking lights

Printer lights can blink for more than one reason, so the solution can vary. You do not need to perform these solutions in a specific order, but solutions for the most common issues are presented first.
An error message on the computer screen might accompany the blinking lights, and can help determine the solution.
note:
This document describes the light patterns on your product as blinking or flashing lights. In this document, "flashing" means the same as "blinking."
For issues regarding cartridges, first check cartridge compatibility.
Purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies from the HP Store or local retailers.
