HP Notebook PCs - Video Playback May Appear Choppy When Using QuickPlay

This document pertains to HP Notebook PCs with Windows Vista.

Keeping up to date

If you experience playback errors, such as video or sound problems, you may need to update your QuickPlay software. The most recent QuickPlay update will fix choppy video playback and improve the overall performance of QuickPlay.

Update QuickPlay automatically

Use the update function within Quickplay by following the steps below.
  1. Click Start, type quickplay in the search field, and then select QuickPlay from the list.
  2. In QuickPlay, double-click the Update icon. The Updates and Enhancements window opens.
  3. Double-click Get the latest QuickPlay updates.
  4. Select Download now! and follow the on-screen instructions.
Now that your computer has the latest version of QuickPlay available, try using QuickPlay again to confirm that your playback issues have been resolved.

Update QuickPlay manually

In some notebook models, updating QuickPlay automatically may not resolve choppy playback problems. If this is the case, you will need to download and install an update manually by following the steps below.
  1. Connect to the internet and open a web browser.
  2. Navigate in the web browser to the QuickPlay update at Cyberlink.com (in English).
  3. Save the file to your desktop.
  4. Once the file has downloaded, double-click on the file icon to open the update package.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
Now that your computer has the latest version of QuickPlay available, try using QuickPlay again to confirm that your playback issues have been resolved.

Update the BIOS

To ensure that the audio and video playback functions on your notebook work optimally, check your BIOS to verify that it is the latest version. If it is not the latest version available from HP, you should create a restore point and update your BIOS as soon as possible.
