Follow the advanced troubleshooting steps to resolve audio issues on your laptop computer.
Rollback the audio driver
If you have audio issues after installing updates or running Windows Update, try rolling back your audio driver.
Set the default audio playback device
Select an audio playback device to use as a default.

Update the audio driver using Device Manager
Enable the audio device, and then update the audio driver using Device Manager.
Perform a hard reset
Perform a hard reset to resolve audio issues on your notebook.

Test for sound. If the hard reset did not resolve the audio issue, go to Reset BIOS to default values.
Reset BIOS to default values
Corrupted or incorrect BIOS settings can cause audio issues. You can try to restore default BIOS values to resolve audio issues.
Your BIOS Setup Utility might look different from the images shown, but the steps to restore BIOS defaults are the same.
Run an audio hardware diagnostic test
Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows tool to perform an Audio Playback Test. This checks the functionality of the audio subsystem, including audio controllers and codecs.
Update the BIOS
Updating the BIOS can resolve some audio issues.

If you completed the previous troubleshooting steps and your sound is still not working properly, reset your computer.
