Every HP Enterprise printer has LEDs in the formatter board to identify and troubleshoot problems.

Connectivity LED - indicates installation accuracy
Note:Present only on formatters that are customer-replaceable. Formatters replaced by a service technician will not have a Connectivity LED.

Jetdirect LED - indicates network activity

Heartbeat LED - indicates operating correctly

The location of the formatter LEDs might differ slightly depending on your printer model.

Jetdirect LEDs
The embedded HP Jetdirect print server has two LEDs. The yellow LED indicates network activity, and the green LED indicates the link status. A blinking yellow LED indicates network traffic. If the green LED is off, a link has failed.

Heartbeat LED
The heartbeat LED indicates whether or not the formatter is functioning correctly. While the product is initializing after it is turned on, the LED is green and blinks rapidly, and then turns off. When the product has finished the initialization sequence, the heartbeat LED is green and pulses on and off. If the LED is red or amber, this is an indication that something is wrong.
