HP printer setup (HP Print for Chrome app)

Print documents, photos, and webpages through the Google Chrome browser without downloading an additional print driver.

Install HP Print for Chrome

To print from the Chrome browser, install the HP Print for Chrome app from the Chrome Web Store.

The following are requirements to use the HP Print for Chrome app.

  • A Chromebook, Mac, or other computer connected to the internet

  • An active Gmail or Google Chrome account

  • The latest version of the Chrome browser

  1. Open the Chrome browser, and then go to HP Print for Chrome app (in English).

  2. In the app window, click ADD TO CHROME, and then follow the instructions to install the app.

Print with HP Print for Chrome

Print documents, images, webpages, and emails from Chrome.

  1. From the Chrome browser, open the item you want to print.

  2. Click the Print icon . If no icon displays, click the Menu icon , and then select Print from the drop-down menu.

  3. Under Destination, click the Change button.

  4. Under Print Destinations, select your printer.

  5. Change any print settings, and then click Print.

Why can't I find HP Print for Chrome in the Chrome Web Store?

The HP Print for Chrome app requires Chrome v44 or newer.

To update Chrome, go to Update Google Chrome (in English).

Why is my printer not listed as a destination?

If you are unable to find your printer in the destination list when attempting to print, manually add it to the HP Print for Chrome list of printers.

  1. Make sure your printer is on the same network as your Chromebook or computer.

  2. In Chrome, click the Apps icon in the upper left-hand corner.

  3. In the list of apps that displays, select HP Print for Chrome.

  4. In the Print for Chrome window, click Add printers by IP address.

  5. Click Add printer.

  6. Type your printer model or name, and then type the printer IP address into the correct fields.

Your printer is added to the list of preferred printers.

How do I find my printer IP address?

Find the printer IP address on a Network Configuration page.

  1. Print a Network Configuration or Wireless Network Test Results page.

    • Printers with a control panel menu: Print the page from the Wireless, Network Settings, or Setup menu.

    • Printers without a control panel menu: Print the page using button combinations on the printer control panel.

      For most printers, press the Wireless and Information buttons at the same time, or press the Wireless and Start Copy Black buttons at the same time.

      For HP DeskJet 6000 and 6400, ENVY 6000 and 6400, and Tango printers, touch and hold the Information button until all control panel buttons light up, and then touch the Information and Resume buttons at the same time.

  2. Find the printer IP address.

How do I remove a printer from HP Print for Chrome?

Remove a printer from the preferred printers list in the Add printers my IP address window.

  1. In Chrome, click the Apps icon in the upper left-hand corner of the browser.

  2. In the list of apps that displays, click HP Print for Chrome.

  3. In the Print for Chrome window, click Add printers by IP address, and then click REMOVE next to the printer you want to disconnect.

The selected printer is removed from the list.

How do I enable, disable, or remove HP Print for Chrome?

From settings in Chrome, you can enable, disable, or remove the HP Print for Chrome app.

  1. In a Chrome browser, type chrome;//extensions in the address bar, and then press Enter.

  2. In the list of Chrome extensions that displays, locate HP Print for Chrome.

    • To enable or disable the app, click the On/Off toggle. White is disabled, blue is enabled.

    • To remove the app, click Remove, and then click Remove to confirm.
