DESCRIPTION
The WWAN module no longer functions after upgrading to Windows 10. The Windows device manager flags the WWAN module (HP hs3110 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Device or HP lt4112 Gobi 4G Mobile Broadband Device ) with a yellow triangle and exclamation mark indicating that the driver is not installed (Code 28).

RESOLUTION
Short-term solution
  1. Open the Windows Device Manager.
  2. Click View in top bar and select Devices by connection.
  3. Find the USB Composite Device that WWAN device included and select it, then right-click Update Driver Software....
  4. Under Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller > USB Root Hub > Generic USB Hub, find the USB Composite Device that the HP hs3110 is listed under it, then right-click the USB Composite Device (b), and then select Update Driver Software... (c).
    note:
    The picture below shows HP hs3110 device (a), on some computers it will be HP lt4112 device instead. "USB Composite Device" is used in example, the actual device name may be different. Just make sure the HP hs3110 is listed under it.

  5. Choose Browse my computer for driver software, then click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  6. Check Show compatible hardware, then select USB Mobile Broadband Network Adapter Module, and then click Next.
  7. Click the scan for hardware changes button (a) in top Bar

  8. Update the WWAN driver to the latest version available on HP.com:
