Locating and Reseating External Network Connections for HP Latex 3000 Printer

This document is for the HP Latex 3000 printer.
This document provides instructions and illustrations for locating three network cable connections. The connections are:

  1. Ethernet cable between the Printer PC on the printer and the rest of the site network.
  2. Ethernet cable between the Printer PC on the printer and the E-box.
  3. Ethernet-type cable between the E-box and the E-cabinet.

A problem with this connection prevents the printer from operating normally. The printer will be unable to print, and most Print Care operations fail. This connection is managed entirely by the HP software and does not have any manual configuration available. Specific error codes displayed on the Printer PC include 10.02.00:04 E-cabinet to E-box communication failure.
If error code 10.02.00:04 E-cabinet to E-box communication failure or a similar code is displayed on the printer PC, follow these steps to check the circuit breakers and restart the printer.
  1. Make sure that no circuit breakers on the printer have been tripped.
  2. If circuit breakers have been tripped, shut down the printer.
    1. Reset the circuit breaker.
    2. Turn the printer back on to re-test.
  3. If no circuit breakers were tripped, restart the printer and re-test.
If the problem persists, follow these steps to access the E-box and E-cabinet to make sure the cables are connected and in working condition.
  1. Shut down the printer, and then disconnect the power cord.
  2. Remove the two fasters that secure the panel to the printer.

  3. Remove the rear printer enclosure panel.

  4. With the enclosure panel removed, both the E-cabinet and the E-box are visible.

    2. E-box.
Make sure not to disturb any other cables.
  5. On the E-box circuit board, make sure that the cable that connects the E-box to the E-cabinet is connected to port J_341, and that the cable appears to be in good physical condition and not severely pinched, folded, or stressed.
Port J_341 is located near the center of the circuit board. The cable is labeled as EBOX J_341 and CZ056-50138.

  6. Locate the other end of the cable labeled as EBOX J_341 and CZ056-50138 on the E-cabinet.

  7. Make sure that the cable is securely connected to the E-cabinet, and that the cable appears to be in good physical condition and not severely pinched, folded, or stressed.

  8. Reconnect the main power to the printer and start your printer again.
