Answer/Solution
The Electronics Box on the FB500 and FB700 printers houses the computer-related components for the printer. This electronics box must be correctly cooled for normal printer operation and reliability. Cooling of the electronics box is facilitated by three fans that move air through the interior of the box. The location and cleaning of two of these fans is described in Chapter 9 of the printer's User Guide, but the location of the other third fan is not. This support article provides the location of the third fan.

Figure 1 Location of cooling fans on the electronics box. The box is shown in isolation from all other printer components for clarity; it is not necessary to fully remove the box from the printer to locate the fans.
1 - Fan #1, located near the printer power switch. This fan is documented in the printer's User Guide, chapter 9.
2 - Fan #2, located near the printer main AC power-in receptacle. This fan is documented in the printer's User Guide, chapter 9.
3 - Fan #3. Access to this fan is not normally required.

Fans #1 and #2 have external foam filters that require periodic cleaning, as described in chapter 9 of the printer's User Guide. Fan #3 does not have an external filter and does not normally require cleaning. If the printer's operation or performance is in question due to suspected heat-related issues, Fan #3 should be inspected and verified as operating. The printer should always be operated according to the environmental specifications outlined in the printer User Guide.
