iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger - Accessing the Internet on the iPAQ/PDA Using ICS

Information

The iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger does not support DUN (Dial-up Networking profile). Hence, it is necessary to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing profile) to pair the iPAQ with other Bluetooth enabled devices to share the GPRS Internet connection.
Scope: HP iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger Series.
Operating System: Windows Mobile 6.0

Details

In order to do this, please perform the following steps:
  1. Make sure that the HP iPAQ is not connected to the computer.
  2. Press Start > More > Internet Sharing.
Info: This setting configures the iPAQ 500 as a network access point.
  3. Scroll and select Bluetooth PAN from the PC Connection list.
  4. Scroll and select GPRS (Ex: select O2 UK GPRS if you have the GPRS service from O2 Mobile Service Provider) from the Network Connection list.
  5. Setup a Bluetooth partnership between the two devices (for example: iPAQ 500 and hx2490b) and check if you are able to access Internet on the iPAQ.
note:
Please use the 'Explore a Bluetooth device option' on the iPAQ and select the network access point service. You should be able to access Internet on the iPAQ using the GPRS internet service on the iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger.
IMPORTANT: Please do not use the 'Connect to internet via phone' option on the iPAQ while pairing the two devices.
