How to Capture Video using Using Nero Vision Express 3
Make sure the Camcorder or video source is already connected to the system, and that the system is able to detect the device. By default all video captured with NeroVision Express 3 will be stored in "C:\My Documents\NeroVision\CapturedVideo" directory.
  1. First to launch NeroVision Express 3: Click Start, All Programs, Nero, Nero Digital, NeroVision Express.
  2. This brings up the NeroVision Express 3 Main Window. Click Capture Video to Hard Drive, see Figure 1.

  3. This brings up the Capture Video window. In the top left of the window the capture device will be listed. If there is more than one device to capture from, use the drop down box next to "Capture device:" option to select which device to capture from with NeroVision Express 3, see Figure 2.

  4. Click the down arrow in the "Select a capturing template:" before beginning the capture. By default, it is configured to "DVD" and we recommend using this template for captures:
    • DVD: Use this template to capture video in DVD-Video compatible format.
    • SVCD: Use this template to capture video in SVCD compatible format.
  5. Click Quality to change quality of the record, by default quality is set to "HQ":
    • HQ (High Quality): Bit rate 9716 kbit/s
    • SP (Standard Play): Bit rate 5073 kbit/s
    • LP (Long Play): Bit rate 3382 kbit/s
    • EP (Extended Play): Bit rate 2357 kbit/s
  6. If a capture device is using composite (RCA) or S-Video cables and no video in showing in the Capture device screen, click the Video Device Properties icon. Click the Input tab to change the properties of the video input, see Figure 3.

  7. Before beginning the capture, video needs to be playing in the background. Click the Play button to begin playing the video in the selected device, see Figure 4.

  8. Once at a point that needs to be captured, click the Record button to begin capturing. It will show the number of captured/dropped frames, as well as the time left on the tape.
  9. Click the Stop button, and the recording will stop. The source device will continue to play in the background. camcorder. Click Stop on the stop button a second time to stop the tape from playing. A few seconds after the capturing process comes to a stop, the video just captured will show up in the bottom right, "Captured files" section, of the capture window, see Figure 5.

  10. To preview the video you just captured, click the video located in the right hand of the capture window, and then click the play button.
  11. When in playback mode, to see "Full Screen" clicking the Full Screen button.
  12. To continue capturing after viewing the video you just captured, reselect the capture device from within the drop-down box located next to Capture device: option.
  13. Click theplay button and the record button to begin recording again.
  14. Once finished capturing video, click Next to continue.
  15. This brings you back to the main NeroVision Express 3 window. Choose: Capture more video, Make DVD with Captured Video, Make CD with Captured Video, Record Directly to DVD, Make Movie with Captured Video, Back to the start, or Exit NeroVision Express, see Figure 6.
