HP Photosmart Digital Cameras - Performing a Power Reset

Introduction
The camera locks up or does not turn off. An error message does not display. Resetting the digital camera normally corrects this issue. The reset drains the power and, in some cases, causes the camera to revert to factory defaults.
Perform a power reset of the camera
Locate your camera model in the table below and follow the instructions to reset your camera.
Camera series

120, 320, 620, 720, 812
  1. Remove the batteries and any memory cards that are in the camera.
  2. Wait at least five minutes.
  3. Reinstall the batteries.
      note:
    Do not put the memory cards back in the camera.
  4. Turn on the camera.
  5. If the camera turns on and functions correctly, reinstall the memory cards.
C20, C30, C200, C500, 210, 215, 315, 318, 433, 435, 612, 618, 715, 912
Remove the batteries. Wait at least sixty seconds before reinstalling the batteries and turning the camera on.

Remove the batteries and then press and hold the Reset button for at least ten seconds.
  note:
The Reset button is the inset square located behind the memory card slot as shown in the figure below.

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds.
  2. Release the Power button.
  3. Press the Power button to turn on the camera.
  4. When the camera turns on, you might be prompted to set the date and time.
  note:
When turning on the camera normally, press and immediately release the power button. If the power button is held longer than 5 seconds while turning on the camera, the camera might reset automatically while the lens is extending.

  1. Remove the batteries and the memory card from the camera.
  2. Press and hold the Reset button for at least 10 seconds.

  1. Remove the memory card and turn on the camera.
  2. Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.
  3. Wait at least ten seconds.
  4. Reinsert the batteries and turn on the camera.
When the camera is turned on, you will be prompted to input or verify the date and time.
  note:
If the issue is not resolved, try the camera without a memory card or format the memory card. This will help to determine whether an image on the card, the card itself, or the camera is causing the camera to lock up or not turn off. See your manual for formatting instructions.
