HP Electrostatic 7600 Series Plotters - Moving
Moving the HP 7600 Series Electrostatic Plotter properly.
The following steps should be taken when moving a HP 7600 Series Electrostatic Plotter to a new location.
Schedule a service call with the local HP Sales and Service office to deinstall the HP 7600 Series Electrostatic Plotter.
note:Any Deinstallation and/or Reinstallation by HP is charged to the customer on a time and materials basis and is not covered under a Service Agreement.
The HP engineer will remove the media supply spool, properly cover the writing head with ES Media, and lock down the upper frame by reversing the installation procedure found in the HP 355 Plotter Service Manual, pages 3-6, Steps 1-6 (HP P/N C1620-90050).
The HP engineer will also remove the toner bottles from the HP 7600 Series Electrostatic Plotter (one if a monochrome unit, four if a color unit) and securely fasten the toner bottle caps, if available.
caution:It is the full responsibility of the customer to properly transport the used toner or dispose of it. Toner is a petroleum distillate product (kerosene) that has a flash point of 38 c/100F. Because of this, toner is classified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a hazardous material and must be shipped or disposed of according to local, state, and federal regulations. Because HP is not a certified transporter of hazardous material, HP will not under any circumstance transport toner.
note:For countries other than the U.S.: the toner solution is a petroleum distillate product (kerosene) that requires special disposal methods in most countries. Since the method of disposal varies among countries, consult your local regulatory and/or health agencies for the proper disposal methods in your area.
Once the HP 7600 Series Electrostatic Plotter is deinstalled, it is recommended that the plotter be moved by professional movers using a "padded-van" service for short moves, for example to a different building or across a city. If the plotter will be transported a greater distance, it is recommended that the unit be secured in its original packaging (if saved), or arrange to have the plotter re-packaged (wood recommended, especially for subsequent re-use) for moving. This is very important since the plotter cannot sustain hard-jarring movement because it may cause damage to the unit.
Once the HP 7600 Series Electrostatic Plotter arrives at the new location, a service call should be scheduled with the local HP Sales/Service office to have the plotter re-installed for proper operation.
