HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP, HP PageWide Enterprise MFP - Configure and use OXPd to enable document workflows

HP Imaging and Printing Open Extensibility Platform for Devices (OXPd: Workflow) provides a way to use the printer as a document-capture device, or to extend the printer in other ways.

Information about the workflow document and the metadata required for the capture process is contained in an XML configuration file that must be uploaded to the printer.

Use the OXPd: Workflow in the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) to send configuration files to the printer.

Step one: Access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Follow these steps to obtain the printer's IP address and then use it to access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) from a web browser.

Note:

The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

  2. Open the HP Embedded Web Server:

    1. On your computer, open a Web browser, and in the address bar, type the printer's IP address or host name exactly as it displayed on the printer control panel.

    2. Press Enter on the computer keyboard.

      The EWS opens.

Step two: Configure the OXPd: Workflow features

Use the following steps to set the OXPd: Workflow features, such as which configuration file to use.

  1. Using the top navigation tabs, click Scan/Digital Send.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click OXPd: Workflow.

  3. Configure the OXPd: Workflow features:

    • Versions area: This area lists the current version of the OXPd: Workflow software. These fields are not editable.

    • Installed Configuration File area: This area provides information about the current configuration file.

      • To upload a new configuration file, click the Browse button to locate the file, and then click the Upload button to upload the file to the printer.

      • To remove the current file from the printer, click the Remove Current File button.

    • URL Polling Service area: In addition to uploading a configuration file, there is an option to specify up to four URLs that the OXPd: Workflow software will poll for configuration information at specific intervals.

For each URL, enter the username and password required for authentication.

In the Polling Interval field, enter the interval, in minutes, at which the printer should poll the URLs for configuration information. Click the Apply Settings button to save the information.

    • Force Update area: If using the URL Polling Service feature, get configuration information immediately rather than waiting for the polling interval.

Click the Force Update Now button to retrieve the configuration information immediately.
