DESCRIPTION

System running Windows 10 with multiple displays connected to docking stations might see all application windows move to the primary display after resuming from sleep mode or locking the system. Issue is also seen when a single monitor is connected to the docking station and the laptop lid is open.

When the system goes into sleep mode, the device disconnection beeps can be heard. When the system wakes from sleep mode, the device connection beeps can be heard.

Issue is not seen in Windows 11.

RESOLUTION

This is a known Microsoft Windows 10 known as Rapid Hot Plug Detect (Rapid HPD). Issue is fixed in Windows 11.

This behavior impacts DisplayPort multi-monitor setups which results in unwanted desktop rearrangements. See Avoid Annoying Unexpected App Rearrangement (in English).

This issue is not related to the HP hardware, software, or BIOS. Microsoft suggests upgrading to Window 11 to resolve issue.

Rolling back the BIOS is not recommended. Newer BIOS version resolves critical issues and contain latest security patches.

Provide the customer the information in the RESOLUTION. Do not replace any hardware or set up service events.
