HP has identified an issue affecting VNC session security within HP Device Manager that could potentially be leveraged to create unauthorized connections.

RESOLUTION

HP is making patches for this issue available on the website.

For HP Device Manager 5.0, download and install HP Device Manager 5.0.1.

Run the HP Device Manager 5.0.1 installer to install or upgrade from an earlier HP Device Manager (HPDM) release.
Update the HPDM Agent on all managed Windows devices.
Log into the HPDM 5.0.1 Console and go to the Administration page.
Click the VNC Certificate toolbar button to open the VNC Certificate Management dialog.
Follow the dialog instructions to either import a certificate and private key or allow HPDM to generate an installation unique key pair.

note:
Imported certificates must be in PEM format and include the key usage attributes Digital Signature and Key Encipherment and the enhanced key usage attribute must include both Server Authentication and Client Authentication.
Dispatch new TLS certificates for VNC sessions to Windows managed devices using the _Apply Settings template and checking the Enable VNC option.

For customers who do not want to upgrade to HP Device Manager 5.0.1, download and extract VNCUpdate.zip. The README.DOC file contains instructions to apply the update.
