HP 3115m Notebook PC - Computer Does Not Power on Using Wake-On-LAN

DESCRIPTION
The computer does not power on using Wake-On-LAN (WOL).
  note:
The computer will power on when coming out of Standby (S3) and hibernation (S4) using WOL.

RESOLUTION
Microsoft Windows 8 does not automatically support WOL feature.
To enable WOL, perform the following procedure:
  note:
The computer must be in Desktop Mode. The entire procedure listed must be completed to enable WOL.
Disable Fast Boot by following these steps:
  1. Right-click the battery icon, then click Power Options.
  2. Select " Choose what closing the lid does" link on the left side of the screen.
  3. Select " Change settings that are currently unavailable".
  4. Deselect " Turn on fast startup (recommended)."
Enable the "Wake on Magic Packet" feature by following these steps:
  1. Move cursor to the lower left corner of the screen and allow the Metro Menu to appear.
  2. Right-click the Metro Menu and select Control Panel.
  3. Click the " Network and Internet" group.
  4. Click " Network and Sharing Center".
  5. Click " Change adapter settings" on the left side of the screen.
  6. Richt-click " Local Area Connection" and select Properties.
  7. Click " Configure" and select the Power Management tab.
  8. Select " Allow this device to wake the computer" and click OK.
  9. Close Network Connections.
Add registry key by following these steps:

The following procedure contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. HP strongly recommends that you back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if an issue occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following link to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
  1. Tap WINKEY + R, enter " regedit.exe" in the "Open" field and click OK.
  2. Double-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand System, expand Currentcontrolset, expand services, expand NDIS.
  3. Select Parameters.
  4. Click Edit, mouse over New, and select DWORD (32bit) Value.
  5. Replace the "New Value #1" text with " AllowWakeFromS5".
  6. Right-click " AllowWakeFromS5" and select Modify.
  7. Enter "1" and click OK.
  8. Close Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.
