Follow these instructions to ensure the right accessories are removed from the defective to the replacement unit at the moment of the replacement:
  note:
Images framed in red represent the defective unit, whereas those framed in green represent the replacement HP All-in-One printer.
  1. Make sure both the defective and replacement HP All-in-One printers are plugged in and powered on.
  2. Remove the Two-sided printing accessory/Duplexer from the defective unit and transfer it to the replacement unit.
  3. Open the ink cartridge access door on both HP All-in-One printers.
  4. Lift the latch handle on the right side of the printhead assembly on both HP All-in-One printers in order to loosen it.
  5. On the defective unit, remove the printhead assembly with the cartridges inside by lifting it up and then pulling it out of the HP All-in-One printer.
      caution:
Be careful not to touch the ink nozzles or the electrical contacts on the printhead assembly while handling it; doing so may damage the printhead and cause print quality issues.
  6. Transfer the printhead assembly with the print cartridges inside from the defective unit to the replacement unit.
  7. Make sure the latch handle is raised on the replacement unit and gently push the printhead assembly into its basement until it becomes adjusted. Now, lower the latch handle on both HP All-in-One printers.
      caution:
Make sure both latch handles are lowered to their limit before continuing with the instructions. Failure to do so may result in the HP All-in-One printer becoming seriously damaged during shipment.
  8. Close the ink cartridge access door on both HP All-in-One printers.
  9. Remove the Secondary input tray, if present, from the defective unit and transfer it to the replacement unit.
      note:
The Secondary input tray is an optional accessory. Skip to the next step if your HP All-in-One printer does not include this accessory.
  10. Turn off the defective unit and load white plain paper into the input tray of the replacement HP All-in-One printer.
  11. Disconnect the defective unit's power cord from the wall outlet. The replacement HP All-in-One printer will automatically print an alignment page to calibrate the printhead.
  12. Transfer the USB (Universal Serial Bus) or Ethernet cable from the defective unit to the replacement unit. Return the defective unit to the logistics personnel/courier for shipment back to HP.
