HP Notebook PCs - System Information in BIOS Displays Memory Working at 1067MHz Instead of 1333MHz

This document applies to Compaq Presario CQ42-200, Compaq Presario CQ62-100/200, HP G42-200, HP G62-100\200, HP G72-100\200, HP Envy 15-1000\1100, HP Pavilion dm4-1000\1100, HP Pavilion dv4-2000\2100, HP Pavilion dv5-2000\2100 and HP Pavilion dv6-2100\3000 series Notebook PCs.
The notebook product specifications state that the memory should be 1333Mhz but the installed memory is rated at 1067Mhz in the BIOS.
Chipset may limit the speed of the memory
The notebook is functioning as designed. Although the notebook memory slots support DDR3 1033MHz modules, the actual working frequency of memory modules depends on the overall notebook limit.
For example, the Intel Core i5/i3 processor and chipset only support 1067MHz. Therefore the BIOS information shows that rate even though the memory slots support 1333MHz.
