HP Compaq nx7000 Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Display Panel Cable

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the display panel cable for the HP Compaq nx7000 Notebook PC.
Tools required
  • Small, Phillips-head P0 screwdrivers
  • Small, flat-bladed screwdriver or a flat-bladed alignment tool

Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the display panel cable that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP.

Display panel cable removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the four 3 mm P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the sides of the LCD panel to the display panel.
  3. Remove the four 5 mm P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the bottom of the LCD panel to the display panel.
  4. Lift and remove the LCD panel from the display panel.
  5. Place the LCD panel face down.
  6. Remove the tape that secures the display panel cable to the LCD panel.
  7. Disconnect the display panel cable from the LCD panel and remove.
Display panel cable replacement
  1. Reconnect the display panel cable to the LCD panel.
  2. Re-tape the display panel cable to the LCD panel.
  3. Turn the LCD panel face up and place it into the display panel.
  4. Replace the four 5 mm P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the bottom of the LCD panel to the display panel.
  5. Replace the four 3 mm P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the sides of the LCD panel to the display panel.
