HP iPAQ hx2190b Pocket PC - Error 606 USB Timeout While Performing ROM Update

Issue:
While performing a ROM update for a HP iPAQ hx2190b connected to a Windows XP operating system based system, the ROM update process encounters the following error:
606 USB timeout.
Solution
To update the ROM successfully, please perform the following instructions:
  1. Download and save the SP33003.exe Version 1.02 (15 Jun 2006) file on your desktop using the following weblink:
  2. Create a New Folder and Name the folder ROM on Desktop.
  3. Double click the Sp33003.exe file and run > Agree/Accept the licence agreement.
  4. Change the install location, For example: Instead of storing files in C:\ipaq, choose browse and store them to newly created Folder which is named ROM.
  5. This starts the ROM Update utility program please cancel the ROM Update process.
  6. Return to the desktop > ROM folder where you will see a range of files. Look for a file HpRUU.exe with the HP logo
  7. Disable the screen saver of the Computer/System, and set the back light energy saver to off in the iPAQ. Remove storage cards and connect cradle to the power supply.
  8. Establish a sync with the iPAQ and PC.
  9. Once it is established, click and launch the HpRUU.exe file from the Desktop > ROM folder and update the ROM.
