HP Notebook PCs - Notebook Cannot Read or Write to Media Using the 6-in-1 Card Reader

Description
The notebook may be unable to read, write, copy or format one of the following media cards:
  • SD media cards
  • XD media cards
  • SM media cards
  • MMC media cards
  • MS/Pro media cards
Solution
Try the following methods to resolve this issue.
Method 1
If possible, try using the memory card in another card reader. If the card does not work correctly in another reader, then replace the card.
Method 2
If the memory card works correctly in another reader or if another reader is not available, download and install the latest version of the memory card reader driver for the notebook from the HP Drivers and Downloads page. For more information on obtaining the latest drivers, refer to HP Notebook PCs - Locating HP Software, Driver and BIOS Updates.
If the card does not work after installing the latest drivers, click "contact hp" on this page for more support options for setting up a service event to replace the notebook´s system board.
  note:
Under certain circumstances, the file system on the SD card may get corrupted when using earlier versions of the driver. This may cause the card not to read data, store data, or format correctly. To restore the file system, it is recommended that the SD card be formatted using a different device; for example, another computer, camera, PDA, etc.
