HP Designjet CP Series Printers - Accuracy Calibration

An Accuracy calibration should be performed whenever banding is detected or there is a noticeable misalignment of colors. Two calibrations are available, restore factory (which restores the printer to original factory settings), and recalibrate (which calibrates the advance to the media being used). Follow the steps below to perform the calibrations.

Ensure that all media is removed from the printer prior to beginning the calibration and that the printer window is closed.

In order to access the Service tests menu, the printer must be in Full Menu Mode.

1. Press the ENTER button on the Front panel menu system.
2. Using the ARROW keys, scroll to Utilities and press ENTER.
3. Scroll to Service tests and press ENTER.
4. Scroll to Accuracy calibration and press ENTER.
5. Scroll to Restore factory and press ENTER.
6. Printer accuracy has been restored to factory settings.

1. Press the ENTER button on the Front panel menu system.
2. Using the ARROW keys, scroll to Utilities and press ENTER.
3. Scroll to Service tests and press ENTER.
4. Scroll to Accuracy calibration and press ENTER.
5. Scroll to Recalibrate and press ENTER.
6. Select Create pattern (press key selection is pointing to).
7. When prompted load roll or sheet media (at least D/A1 size), preferably HP Matte Film, or HP High Gloss Film.
8. Close the top cover.
9. After the pattern is printed, select Measure pattern.
10. Follow the instructions on the front-panel display to complete the calibration.
11. Printer advance has now been recalibrated.

If a C0801 Fail message appears the calibration pattern is bad, follow the steps below:

1. Try recovering the Printheads through the printer's front-panel menu and repeat the calibration.
2. Replace the entire Black ink system and repeat the calibration.
