Loading Paper and Envelopes for HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw Multifunction Printer Series and HotSpot LaserJet Pro M1218nfs MFP Series

Introduction

This document describes how to load paper and envelopes into the printer.

Loading paper

Use the input tray to print on any approved paper, including paper that is shorter than 185 mm (7.28 in).

Follow these steps to load paper.

Remarque :
Your printer might not look exactly like the images, but the steps are the same.

Loading standard-size paper into the input tray

Slide the paper guides to their outermost positions.
Place the stack of paper print side up in the tray, and then make sure that the stack is flat at all four corners.

Slide the paper guides inward so that they rest against the stack of paper.

Loading short paper into the input tray

If you are printing on paper shorter than 185 mm (7.28 in), use the following steps to remove the short paper extender tool from the slot on the left side of the input area, and then attach it to the front of the tray before you load the paper.

Remove the short paper extender tool from the slot on the left side of the input area.

Attach the tool to the front of the input tray.

Place the shorter paper into the tray print side up, and then slide the paper guides inward.

Loading the automatic document feeder (ADF)

Follow these steps to load paper into the ADF.

Remarque :
The minimum paper size for the ADF is 148 x 105 mm (5.83 x 4.13 inches).

Place the stack of paper print side up in the ADF, and then make sure that the stack is flat at all four corners.

Loading envelopes

Before you load and print on envelopes, review the following guidelines.

Envelope guidelines

Do not use envelopes with clasps, snaps, windows, coated linings, self-stick adhesives, or other synthetic materials that are susceptible to heat.
Do not use envelopes that are wrinkled, nicked, stuck together, or otherwise damaged.
If you use envelopes with peel-off adhesive strips, make sure they are approved for use in laser printers.
Only use envelopes recommended for laser printers.
Use envelopes with seams that extend to the corners.

Loading envelopes into the input tray

Follow these steps to load envelopes into the input tray.

Remove the short paper extender tool from the slot on the left side of the input area.

Attach the tool to the front of the tray.

Place envelopes into the tray, print side up (left edge in first), and then slide the paper guides inward.
