HP Officejet 4500, 4575 Printers - Replacing Ink Cartridges

This document is for HP Officejet 4500 (K710 and G510) and 4575 (K710) All-in-One printers.
Replace ink cartridges that are low or out of ink with new, genuine HP ink cartridges.

Step 1: Load plain paper

Before you replace the ink cartridges and begin the alignment process, load paper in the printer.
  1. Pull out the tray extender.

  2. Insert the paper stack into the input tray with the short edge forward and printside down.

    Do not load paper while the device is printing.
  3. Adjust the paper width guide so it rests against the stack of paper.

Step 2: Replace the ink cartridges

  1. Turn on the printer.
      varoitus:
    If the printer is off when the ink cartridgedoor is opened, the printer will notrelease the ink cartridges.
  2. Open the front access door.
    The carriage moves to the far right side of the printer.

  3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
  4. Lightly press down on the ink cartridge to release it, and then pull the ink cartridge out of its slot.

  5. Remove one of the new ink cartridges from its packaging. Be careful to touch only the black plastic on the ink cartridge.
  6. Gently remove the plastic tape.
      varoitus:
    Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles.Do not replace the protective tape on the contacts. Handling these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electricalconnections.

  7. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, and then insert the ink cartridge into its proper slot.
    • If you are installing the tri-color ink cartridge, slide it into the left slot.
    • If you are installing a black ink cartridge, slide it into the right slot.

  8. Slide the new ink cartridge at a slight upward angle into the empty slot, and then gently push the ink cartridge until it snaps into place.
  9. Repeat these steps to install the other ink cartridge, if necessary.
  10. Close the front access door.

Step 3: Align the printer

To achieve the best print quality, it is necessary to align the ink cartridges.
  1. After closing the front access door, wait for the printer to print the alignment page.

  2. Open the scanner lid, and then place the printed alignment page face down on the scanner glass.

  3. Close the scanner lid.
  4. Press OK.
    The printer scans the alignment page, completing the alignment.
