HP LaserJet Pro, Ultra Printers - First Time Printer Setup

This document is for HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130a, M130nw, M130fn, M130fw, M132a, M132nw, M132fn, M132fp, M132fw, M132snw, LaserJet Ultra MFP M134a and M134fn printers.
To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer and all packing materials from the box, load paper into the input tray, connect the power cable, set control panel preferences, and then download and install the printer software.
nota:
If you are looking for the printer software, go to 123.hp.com/laserjet.

Step 1: Remove the printer from the box

Remove the printer from the box and all tape, stickers, and packing materials from the printer.
The contents might vary by country/region. See the packaging for a list of items shipped in the box.
  1. Remove the printer from the box.
  2. Remove all tape and packing materials from the outside of the printer, and then remove the protective film from the printer control panel.
  3. Recycle the packing materials.
  atención:
Do not remove the toner cartridge from the printer. The printer is shipped with the toner cartridge already prepared for printing.

Step 2: Install the input tray dust cover

Remove and install the input tray dust cover.
  1. Open the input tray door.

  2. Carefully pull the dust cover out from the printer, and then remove the tape from the dust cover.

  3. Unfold the sides of the dust cover.

  4. Press the sides of the dust cover inwards until they snap into place.

  5. Align the dust cover hinge pins with the hinge slots above in the input tray area, and then push the pins into the slots until they snap into place.

Step 3: Load paper into the input tray

Load plain paper in the input tray.
  1. Lift the dust cover.

  2. Slide the paper width and paper length guides to their outermost positions.

  3. Load a stack of plain paper with the print-side facing up into the input tray, and then slide the stack forward until it stops.
    nota:
    Load up to 150 sheets of paper with the print side facing up and the top edge toward the printer. If you are loading pre-punched paper, load the paper with the holes toward the left side of the tray.

  4. Slide the paper length and width guides so they rest against the stack of paper.

  5. Press in the sides of the dust cover lightly, and then lower it.
      atención:
    Do not lower the dust cover without pressing in the sides. This might damage the dust cover or the printer.

    nota:
    Before printing or copying, select the correct paper size and paper type settings from the control panel or computer.

Step 4: Connect the power cord and set your preferences

Plug the printer into a wall outlet, turn on the printer, and then set your preferences.
nota:
Do not connect a USB cable at this time. The connection to the computer is established during software installation.
  1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

  2. Turn on the printer.
    Skip to the step to install the printer software if your printer does not have a touchscreen or 2-line display.
  3. On the printer control panel, select your country/region and language.
  4. If prompted, select the date and time, and then press OK.
Your HP printer hardware is now set up and you can install the printing software.

Step 5: Install the printer software

Download the latest version of the printing software from 123.hp.com/laserjet, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
