Use the instructions in this document when it is difficult to remove the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) from the printer.
Issue
The Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) seems to be stuck and difficult to remove from the printer when attempting to replace
it.
Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB)
Cause
A manufacturing issue caused components to shift slightly resulting in the ITB to be stuck and difficult to remove from the
printer. A solution is implemented for this manufacturing issue.
Applicable printers
This issue applies to the following HP Color LaserJet Enterprise printers:

Procedure to remove the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) when stuck
Use one of the following methods when the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) cannot be easily removed from the printer.

Use the power button to turn off the printer.

Warning:
The fuser is hot. Wait at least 30 minutes after turning the printer power off before removing the fuser.

Squeeze the release levers on the handles (circle callouts), and then remove the fuser.

Locate the ITB coupling gear.

Press the ITB coupling gear in the direction indicated by the arrow in the image below.

Continue pressing the ITB coupling gear and pull out the ITB toward the front side of the printer.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the gray plastic belt. Skin oils and fingerprints on the belt can cause print-quality problems.
Important:
There is a resistance when the drive roller shaft (callout 3) goes over the coupling gear (callout 1) and over the frame (callout
2). Therefore, it is recommended to pull out the ITB toward the front of the printer while pressing the coupling gear.

Learn how to use a small flat-blade screwdriver near the end of the ITB drive roller to remove the Intermediate Transfer Belt
(ITB) from the printer.
Note:
Before you begin performing the following procedure, make sure you have a small flat-blade screwdriver.

Position the tip of the small flat-blade screwdriver on the near end of the ITB drive roller (or step of the ITB drive roller).

Press the ITB drive roller using the small flat-blade screwdriver (callout 1) and pull out the ITB toward the front side of
the printer (callout 2) simultaneously.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the gray plastic belt. Skin oils and fingerprints on the belt can cause print-quality problems.
Note:
Position the small flat-blade screwdriver on the frame as indicated in the image (circle callout). This enables the ITB drive
roller to easily move to the front side of the printer.

Press ITB drive roller (callout 1) and pull out ITB (callout 2) simultaneously
Replace or install the ITB
After removing the ITB from the printer, make sure to install the ITB assembly correctly.
Install the ITB
Follow these steps to install the ITB.

Hold the ITB by the edges (do not touch the gray plastic belt).

Align the ITB with the slots in the printer, and then carefully push it into the printer.

Continue to carefully push the ITB into the printer until it is fully installed.

Close the right door.
Tip:
The right door should close easily if the ITB assembly is correctly installed.
