DESCRIPTION
Overall computer performance may be sluggish or slow. This issue is exhibited when the High Dynamic Range (HDR) function is enabled.
One or more of the following symptoms are exhibited:
  • Internal display may be choppy, slow.
  • The response is delayed when the Windows key is pressed to bring up the Start menu.
  • Working in Microsoft apps such Word or Excel may be sluggish or slow.
  • Using Windows Scale to resize windows may be sluggish or slow.
This occurs due to a limitation of the integrated Intel Generation 9 Graphics chip. This is an industry wide issue not specific to HP computers.

RESOLUTION
There are three methods to work around this issue. Select one:
Method 1: Turn off HDR mode in Windows.
  1. Click Start.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select System -> Display settings -> Play HDR games and apps -> Off.
  4. Close Display settings.
Method 2: Set the DPI value to a lower setting (150 or lower).
  1. Click Start.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select System -> Display settings -> Scale and layout.
  4. Select Change the size of the text, apps, and other items to 150 (or lower).
  5. Close Display settings.
Method 3: Disable the Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing feature.
  1. Click the Search icon.
  2. Type Control Panel in the search field.
  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Select All Control Panel Items.
  5. Select System.
  6. Select Advanced System Settings.
  7. Select the Advanced tab.
  8. Select Performance.
  9. Locate and uncheck Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing.
  10. Select Apply.
  11. Close all windows.
