DESCRIPTION
The HP Z38c 37.5-inch Curved Display exhibits the following behaviors:
Behavior 1:
The following message is displayed if the Z38c USB-C port is connected to the USB-C PD (power delivery compliant) port of a dock:
This monitor does not support the charging adaptor attached to the USB-C port. Please remove the charging adaptor from the monitor’s USB-C port.
The message is displayed every time the computer starts because the dock supports USB-C power delivery but the Z38c cannot be charged. There is no functional or safety concern.
Behavior 2:
The Z38c screen may remain blank after being hot plugged, by means of the DisplayPort, to an HP Zbook Thunderbolt 3 dock.
Behavior 3:
The Z38c does not automatically detect video input through the USB-C port.

RESOLUTION
Each of the behaviors are by design or are known limitations and are not due to malfunction or defect in the Z38c monitor. Use the following methods to mitigate or work around the behaviors.
Behavior 1:
The message is displayed because the Z38c display cannot be charged. Avoid the message by using the DisplayPort as the video interface instead of the USB-C port.
Behavior 2:
Reboot the computer or unplug the dock and plug it back in to restore the Z38c display
Behavior 3:
The Z38c doesn’t support Auto Input Scan when connected by the USB-C port. Use the OSD menus to manually select the USB-C port for input.
